Off to the Races…

Today I’m spending several hours with my mom “Queen Martha” – helping her edit and prepare her NEW COOKBOOK which should be published this year. AWESOME! She’s been blogging over at The Better Baker for a few months – and I can remember when she first got started how hesitant she was about having enough content and keeping up – and now she’s off and writing a cookbook! HA! Good times! It’s so nice that I get to do this because my mother in law “Queen Thelma” (who, let’s be honest, I could NOT survive motherhood without) is keeping the girls and picking up Curly from school…

I was scheduled for my first mammogram last Friday – even blogged about it – but had to reschedule. I think I have POISON IVY and canNOT go without cornstarch or melaleuca oil on it or else I’m miserable. In order to have a mammo, you can’t even use deoderant, so I rescheduled and am going to doctor myself up (Benadryl & Calamine lotions are my friends) and hopefully kick it. Never had poison ivy before, and think I had a piece fly into my shirt while I was pulling a few weeks (seriously – that’s how graceful I am) and now I’m in major discomfort from it!

Summer classes start today. I really am grateful for Liberty University Online. I would never be able to manage to get it done without the online availability! Oh – and CHECK THIS OUT! Liberty Online Ministries has these GREAT (FREE!) Bible studies you can download. I’m a junior in the university and never paid much attention to this before, but I am now! SO COOL! I’m taking 2 counseling classes again for the next 8 weeks, and then get a break for each of the girls’ birthdays!

I can’t believe Curly will be 5 and Georgie will be 3. That’s just CRAZY how time flies! I almost cry every time I realize how fast 5 years have come and gone. Curly was just a baby in my arms yesterday, wasn’t she? She’s really enjoying the story of how she was born and just flew right out into the doctor’s arms! She likes that part. We told her its because she was anxious to be here, but WE know its because she’s all about the drama!!! And Georgie – well, petite, tiny Georgie with the legs that go a mile long – she’s just jumped miles with potty training and really wants to go to school with Mrs. Lilly next year. Her sparkling personality is just exploding out of her like fireworks, and its been a real blessing to see her become this amazing little girl with an old soul. She just knows stuff, know what I mean? Oh wow – as much as I’m challenged and exhausted by motherhood (cuz I’m pretty much a wimp), I feel like I really am a QUEEN with 2 girls like these. They are just GEMS, rare and precious jewels that grace my lives and make me better, and make me want to be better.

And then there’s their dad, Roy… But more about him later this week. =)

I’ll be writing some stuff for this week about struggles I’m dealing with – cuz confession is good for my soul here – even if nobody reads or responds – I feel like God really works through me when I put all my junk out here at the curb and let Him sift through it. Oh sure, I can sit back comfortably in the quiet, but He tends to do a lot more good in my life when I CONFESS my faults here to you. So be ready – cuz The Days of My Life are coming…
